Ben Langlands and Nikki Bell (British)
Ben Langlands (b.1955) and Nikki Bell (b.1959) have been working together since 1978. Both were born and currently live and work in London. They studied art together at the Middlesex Polytechnic from 1977 to 1980. The work of Langlands and Bell explores the web of relationships linking people and architecture and the coded systems of circulation and exchange which surround us. Their work is a mixture of sculpture, new media projects and full-scale architecture. Langlands & Bell were appointed in 2002 as official British war artists for the 2001 Invasion of Afghanistan and were shortlisted for the Turner Prize in 2004. Recent solo shows include: Whitechapel Laboratory, Whitechapel Art Gallery, London, 2007 and Zardad's Dog, Tate Britain, London, 2008.
