Horst Weierstall (German)
Born in 1944 in Wuppertal, Germany, Welerstall studied at Dartington College and
Falmouth School of Art, England (1975-1981). In 2003 he coordinated and
participated in the research and performance project ‘One Square Foot’ at The
Space, Nicosia and University of Exeter, England. Horst Weierstall is the
co-founder of the multicultural artist community ‘The Space’ and the newly
formed “Artspace” in Old Nicosia. He has had numerous exhibitions in Cyprus and
abroad and has represented Cyprus at the XXieth Biennale in Alexandria in 1999,
the Xth Triennale in New Delhi, India in 2001. In 2006-2007 he helped organize
‘Close Distance’, a multimedia and performance project with three Iranian
artists in collaboration with the Goethe Centre at Castelliotissa, Nicosia.
In November 2007 his video installations “Topia-U-Topia” on urban experiences in
Cyprus, Germany and Korea were exhibited at the Municipal Art Centre, Nicosia.
